I am in New Zealand. A lot of our cars are imported second-hand from Japan. The Japanese head units fitted do not work properly here. My Mercedes ML500 had a premium sound system with Fibre optic amplifier. I installed this DVD Gps navigation stereo and replaced the fibre optic amplifier with a 'standard' 5-channel class-D amplifier ( class D are smaller and run cooler than class A-B amplifiers ). I connected the head unit to the amplifier inputs using RCA cables.
The Japanese Mercedes head units have completely different plugs to the usual Mercedes items and so the cables supplied by Seicane were not "Plug-n-play". I cut the main connector plug off and hard wire the unit. Very easy as there is only two cables ( + and - ) to connect plus the can-bus cables.
The unit fitted perfectly into the dashboard. No gaps. Everything works perfectly with the exception of the SD card reader which will not play mp3 songs. I'm not too worried about this because the unit has USB and ipod input for music as well as the CD / DVD player. The GPS and bluetooth phone connection work well and overall I am very happy with the unit. I would be happy to provide advice to anyone in New Zealand contemplating replacing their Japanese Head unit. -

- I bought this unit and it was easy to install. Dragging the cables up was easy with a youtube instructional piece. Just do a search (seicane BMW E60) on youtube. The screen is much bigger than my 6.5 screen. The seicane pages are crisp and clean. The video is high quality. Its definitely 1080dp. I am using this device to run the kivic one so I can mirror link my iphone wirelessly. Its a great product. Great to have my music streaming wirelessly and get texts and email notifications through the speakers of my car. Its quality. Customer service takes a bit of time because of the time difference between US and china but they take care of you. This thing coupled with the kivic one makes the new idrives in new beamers look outdated. Best of all its touch screen!!!!!

I could not believe how wonderful Seicane's service was with the facilitation of the ordering process, to the prompt delivery, to the overall quality of the product itself! It truly was outstanding customer service. I had my reservations at first, but I have had the unit installed now for a week and I can honestly say it's in excellent working condition and looks fantastic.
I was waiting for a few days for the tracking code to track my shipment, but before I even got that email the product arrived! Wonderful!! I then booked it in for installation at my local car-audio fitters for $280. They fit it in, and then complimented me on the quality of the product. The gentleman who installed it was impressed with how much I paid for it because he said it's the "best" unit of its type for my Mercedes that he had ever seen. (In other words, it was approved by the pro).
I have been using the unit and it has not let me down! The only slight concern I had was that the cable for the reversing camera to connect to the Video-output on the screen is not included, but they can be easily sourced (the man who installed it had one spare).
The navigation screen is beyond brilliant. It even detects when it's nighttime and inverts the map colours to black so as not to be so harsh on the eyes. The entire unit's screen also purposefully dims when it detects headlights are on, so as not to be so harsh when driving at night. Fantastic! Quality unit, thought of everything!
The unit itself looks very factory, and no alterations are needed to the dash. The backlights on the buttons are the same colour as the rest of the buttons on the dash (climate control, door locks, etc) and the functions from the steering wheel are supported fully (Even answering and ending a call from my phone when connected via bluetooth).
All in all, I cannot describe how wonderful of an experience this has been from start to finish. The Seicane staff are very responsive and will always respond to emails promptly, and there are no questions asked about the quality of the product they send you in the end.
